“Everything else is extra credit” – LeBron James admits he has nothing left to achieve in basketball

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has achieved every major accolade throughout his illustrious NBA career. From being selected as an NBA All-Star for 20 consecutive years to becoming the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, he has cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players in basketball history.

As he enters his 22nd NBA season, LeBron James is set to create history with his son Bronny, as they will be the first father-son duo to play together in the NBA. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, the four-time NBA champion was asked if there was anything left for him to accomplish as a basketball player. The Lakers star gave an honest response and said,

“As a basketball player? No”.

“Everything else is extra credit. I’ll take it though. I love it. I love what I do. But I’ve got everything.”

“I am going to lead by example”- LeBron James

LeBron, who turns 40 in December, also opened up about playing under new head coach JJ Redick. The 4-time MVP winner, said that he will join Redick and Co. as “an extension of the coaching staff on the floor.”

“I’m going to lead by example,”
“I’m going to lead with my voice. My voice is very commanding.”

The Lakers had an underwhelming last season, suffering a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.

LeBron emphasized that the players will have to “demand more” out of each other to succeed this season.

“We have to hold each other accountable, help each other, demand more out of each other”

Anthony Davis reveals Bronny James hit a three over LeBron during practice

While LeBron and Bronny are yet to step out on the court for the preseason, the competitiveness, banter between the father-son duo has already started. During a recent practice session, Anthony Davis shared a fun moment when Bronny sank a three-pointer over his father. Davis revealed that the whole squad cheered for the rookie and mocked LeBron.

“Everybody was talking smack in Bronny’s favor. Bron came down and bullied somebody took it out on who I forgot who it was. Then Bronny came down and hit another three I think over Austin”

The Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves in their regular season opener on Oct. 22.
